Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

We have one class in our year group which is called 4 Barbara Hepworth.

The class has been named after a famous Yorkshire Sculptor.

Barbara Hepworth was born in 1903, in Wakefield West Yorkshire. She was a British artist most famous for her sculptures. Her sculptures are abstract. They usually have smooth shapes and curved lines.

She loved nature and was inspired by the shapes and lines that she saw in it, such as hills and pebbles from the beach. She used materials like wood, stone and bronze and often added strings to her sculptures. Many of Barbara's sculptures are outside in nature and in public places such as parks. Her sculptures often have holes in them so that you can look at the nature on the other side through them.

Here is Barbara Hepworth with one of her famous sculptures! Can you find the names of anymore she designed?

We have a National Multiplication Tables Check in the week beginning 14th June 2027 which is statutory for all Year 4 pupils. This will take place in school and the purpose is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently. Aim to make sure your child is practising their times tables regularly. This can be done through TT Rock Stars online or chanting with them at home.

Here is a link for more information on the Government page. Multiplication tables check: information for parents - GOV.UK
